History. Legacy. Community.

The Black Cowboy Festival is more than a weekend event — it’s family, tradition, and a living tribute to the African-American cowboy. These are the faces, stories, and moments that keep us riding year after year.

Our story

About the Black Cowboy Festival & BCE Society

The Black Cowboy Festival is an annual gathering dedicated to celebrating the rich legacy and ongoing contributions of African-American cowboys and cowgirls. Part cultural festival, part rodeo, and part family reunion, it brings together history, horsemanship, music, food, and community on the grounds of Greenfield Farm in Rembert, South Carolina.

Since the late 1990s, riders, families, trail clubs, and visitors have traveled from across the globe to experience horses, heritage, and hospitality in one place. The festival creates space for elders to share stories, young people to see themselves in the saddle, and guests to learn more about the true history of the American West.

Presented by the Black Cultural Enlightenment (BCE) Society
